GANGTOK,: The North East Zone squad for the upcoming Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal T20 Trophy features two Sikkim players in Primula Chettri and Purni Maya Gurung.
Another Sikkim player, Tshering Ongmu Lepcha, has been named as one of the standby players.
Further, Sikkim senior men’s team coach Sonam Palden Bhutia and senior women’s team coach Kikam Bhuta has been named the head coach and coach respectively.
The 15-member squad picked by zonal selection committee today also has cricketers from the NE States of Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur and Mizoram.
Nagaland cricketer Limatola Ao will lead the North East team and Meghalaya’s Debasmita Dutta has been named her deputy.
The six-team tournament will be held in Lucknow between November 24 and December 4.
The group stage matches will be played in a round-robin format with each team playing all the other teams.
North East Zone, a combined team of players from the North East States of Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland and Sikkim, is featuring in the women’s zonal tournaments for the second season this year.
