GANGTOK,: The promo marathon for the upcoming Fitisthan Marathon took place
successfully at Paljor Stadium on Sunday. The event saw enthusiastic
participation from the Indian Armed Forces and the local community, starting at
5 am with a strong turnout, a press release informs.
Participants
gathered early, with a short video presentation previewing the main Fitisthan
Marathon on October 27. The official marathon shirt was unveiled by key figures
including the General Officer Commanding, Sikkim actress Shyama Shree Sherpa,
Everest mountaineer Karma Gyatso Bhutia, Lion president Mridula Agarwal, and
marathon runner Bharati Gurung.
The 5-km
race kicked off at 6:05 am on a well-marked route, with participants ranging
from young Leo runners to seasoned athletes. The event was well-organized, with
water stations and refreshments provided by the army.
