The
20th State Karate Championship, organized by the Sikkim State Karate Do
Association, began on Sunday at the indoor gymnasium hall of the Paljor Stadium
Sports Complex, Gangtok. Gyalshing-Barnyak MLA LN Sharma was the chief guest
for the opening ceremony.
The
two-day tournament features approximately 450 athletes from all six districts,
all of whom are medal winners from the district-level championships. The first
and second place winners in the State Karate Championship will advance to the
3rd Northeast Zonal Championship, which will be held in September.
The
finals will take place on August 26 at the indoor gymnasium hall of the Paljor
