Sikkim hosts Meghalaya in Ranji Trophy match at SICA ground

PAKYONG, (IPR): The Ranji Trophy (multiday match) between the Sikkim Cricket Association (SICA) and the Meghalaya Cricket Association commenced early Friday morning at the Sikkim Cricket Ground, Rangpo.

Captains Nilesh Lamichaney of the Sikkim Cricket Association and Kishan Lyndoh of the Meghalaya Cricket Association are in charge of their respective teams.

The multiday match is being officiated by the umpires, C. Shamshuttin and Rishiraj Jha, both from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and the match is being overseen by experienced referee Shreyas Narsinh Khanolkar.

Today's match marks the culmination of a total of 9 matches in this session, making it the final group stage match of the plate group, all of which have been successfully hosted by the Sikkim Cricket Association under the aegis of the BCCI.

Tika Subba, president of SICA, apprised that the association, in collaboration with the district administration, has taken the initiative to establish coaching camps for both girls and boys in every district, with the aim of fostering awareness and promotion of the sport.

He expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the parents for their active involvement in nurturing the holistic development of their children. Furthermore, he shared his profound aspirations for the young players and extended his sincere best wishes for their bright future endeavours.  

Gracing the event were Bishnu Kumar Sharma, the minister for Culture department, Printing and Stationery department, and Tshering Palden Bhutia, Deputy Mayor of Gangtok. Also in attendance were panchayat members, stakeholders, esteemed members of SICA, and the general public.
