Sikkim shines at 5th National EMRS Cultural and Literary Fest and Kala Utsav

GANGTOK, : The 5th National EMRS Cultural and Literary Fest and Kala Utsav 2024 was held from November 12 to 15 in Bhubaneswar. The event brought together over 1,400 students from 22 States across India who showcase their talents in the fields of art, literature and culture.

The Sikkim team, consisting of 31 students from EMRS Suntaley, EMRS Parakha, EMRS Gangyap and EMRS Swayem, delivered outstanding performances across various events.

Chunda Bhutia (Class X, EMRS Parakha) and Nishama Limboo (Class XII, EMRS Gangyap) won the first position on Spell Bee contest, Itneem Subba (Class VIII, EMRS Swayem) won the Hindi Kavya Path competition for juniors, Choden Tamang (Class VIII, EMRS Suntaley) won the English elocution for juniors, Barsa Subba (Class VIII, EMRS Suntaley) won the junior category of Hindi story telling competition, Rikshel Hissey Bhutia (Class VII, EMRS Swayem) finished second in juniors’ English poem recitation competition.

The Sikkim contingent was led by contingent manager Sonam Yangzum Bhutia along with escort teachers Benuka Sharma, Sanu Hangma Subba, Karma Gyaltsen Tamang and Sunil Cintury.

The event was attended by Union Tribal Affairs minister Jual Oram, Tribal Affairs MoS Durga Das Uikey and Nityaananda Gond, minister for School and Mass Education, ST & SC Development, Minorities and Backward Classes, Odisha.
