SKM students wing teams up with NGOs to help stranded Sikkimese

GANGTOK: The SKMstudents wing on Wednesday held its second coordination meeting here to facilitate the process of helping the people of Sikkim presently stranded in various parts of the country.
A press release informs that the meeting was also attended by LokSabha MP Indra Hang Subba (chief coordinator), MLA Aditya Golay and executive members of NGOs like Rotary Club, Tibetan Youth Club (TYC), The Blood Army of Sikkim (TBAS) and Dirty Angels Motorcycle Club (DAMC).
The representatives of the various NGOs shared their suggestions with the SKMstudents wing on how to address the genuine problems of the stranded Sikkimese.
Two main agendas were discussed.
The first agenda was the voluntary physical presence and support these national-based NGOs could give during the evacuation of the stranded Sikkimese through their branches and members in various districts and towns.
The other agenda was to provide necessary relief food items at the doorsteps to all the stranded people who are voluntarily not traveling considering the fact that it is a pandemic.
It was decided that DAMC would support the stranded Sikkimese in Northeastern region while TYC would extend support in Himachal Pradesh, Chandigarh, Karnataka (Bengaluru/Mysore). The Rotary Club would be covering pan India while the TBAS would look after Gujarat, Goa, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh.
The meeting concluded with assurance from the MP and the MLA to fully support the NGOs involved in helping the stranded people of Sikkim and thanked them for their support in such troubled times, informs the release from SKM students wing general secretary TsheringWangchuk Lepcha.
