Training for counting personnel starts

GANGTOK, (IPR): The first day of training for Counting Supervisors, Counting Assistants and Micro Observers was conducted here at conference hall of District Administration Centre Gangtok today.

The training programme had the presence of Sunny Kharel, SDM Soreng-cum-State Level Master Trainer, Sonam Wongyal Lepcha, District Planning Officer-cum- Nodal Officer for Training Management Team and Jigme Wangchuk Bhutia, State Level Master Trainer.

Sunny Kharel in his powerpoint presentation, spoke at length about counting officials, layout of Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) counting table and Postal Ballot/Home Voting Counting Table. He gave a live demonstration of EVM counting process including summary of real life scenarios that the counting officials may face on counting day.

Form 13 A, Form 13 B and Form 13 C was explained through a practical session. It also included special cases related to Control Units and process involving counting of votes recorded in EVMs.

Jigme explained the counting process of VVPATs and explained about the procedure involving VVPAT slips. Touching the subject of counting, he explained the process of recounting of votes, special cases related to Control Units (CU), documents related to VVPAT such as Annexure-A and norms related to VVPAT handling.

The first day of training saw two training sessions (morning and evening batch). Total number of 99 counting officials attended the training programme today.
