5th Amateur Mr Sukhim held at Pakyong

PAKYONG,  (IPR): The Bodybuilder Association of Sikkim (BBAS), in collaboration with North East Body Builder's Association (NEBBA), organised the 5th Amateur Mr Sukhim competition at Community Hall, Pakyong today.

The event was graced by District Collector Rohan Agawane as the chief guest, alongside ADC (Development) Robin Pd Sewa as the guest of honour.

The purpose of the event is to foster health consciousness, encouraging younger generation to focus on sports rather than drug activities, while also promoting and regulating the sport of bodybuilding on a global scale.

Addressing the gathering, the DC Pakyong commended the dedication and hard work of the athletes, acknowledging the immense commitment required in the world of bodybuilding. He encouraged those who did not secure a victory to learn from the experience and return with renewed strength and determination.

Acknowledging the dedication and sacrifices of the participants, ADC (Development) Robin Sewa encouraged more participation in the sport, highlighting that athletes serve as ambassadors for the community and play a crucial role in enhancing societal well-being.

General secretary Pema WD Bhutia shared brief information on the establishment of the organisation, emphasising its mission to cultivate a community of young athletes to engage in sports to combat pressing social issues. In addition, he acknowledged the unwavering support of the State government in fostering a healthier environment for the younger generation.

A total of 100 athletes took part in the men’s and women’s categories, namely 50kg, 60kg and 65kg and above took part in the competition.

The Champion of the Champion of Men’s Physique Category was Thinley Tenzing Bhutia and Sherap Lhamu Bhutia, under Women’s Physique Category, accordingly.

Likewise, Champion of the Champions under Men’s Bodybuilding Category 2025 was Binod Pradhan.

The day also witnessed a felicitation presentation to prominent figures of the bodybuilding association, recognising their hard work and contribution to the field.

Also present were dignitaries from various line departments, officials of BBAS local gentry and the general public.
