GANGTOK,: The nation has reached the moon but it is unfortunate that we in Sikkim are still begging for good roads, said CAP Sikkim chief coordinator Ganesh Rai on Saturday.
Rai was addressing a meeting organized by the CAP Sikkim’s drivers council which was chaired by party president LP Kafley. It was held at the CAP Sikkim head-office located at Adampool near Gangtok, a press release informs.
Drivers are the main foundation for a nation’s development and our government will give proper respect and honour to the drivers, said the CAP Sikkim chief coordinator. He promised that CAP Sikkim will protect the rights of the drivers, develop good roads and extend assistance to the drivers, he said.
The meeting deliberated on the problems faced by the drivers and to find the best possible solutions. More than three hundred drivers attended the meeting and among them fifty drivers joined the party, said the CAP Sikkim.
In his address, the CAP Sikkim president mentioned that all are painfully aware of the terrible road conditions across Sikkim. The main reason for this is the faulty policy of the State government and also due to the corruption that happened in the past and present governments, he said.
The party’s drivers council members also shared their opinions and recorded their commitment towards the ‘reform’ call of CAP Sikkim.
