GANGTOK,: The Chief Information Commissioner of India, Heeralal Samariya made a courtesy call on Governor Om Prakash Mathur at the Raj Bhavan today.
During the meeting, the Chief Information Commissioner of India informed that as per the directives of Supreme Court of India, all State Information Commissions (SICs) are conducting hybrid mode of hearing to all appellants for hearing complaints and appeals and to make electronic filing efficient and accessible for all litigants.
The Governor emphasized the importance of transparency and accountability, highlighting the effective use of the Right to Information (RTI) Act by the public. Additionally, he urged the concerned officials to continue working diligently to ensure that citizens receive accurate and reliable information, thereby strengthening the system further, a Raj Bhavan release informs.
The Governor appreciated the State Information Commissioners' efforts and encouraged them to continue working with the same commitment in the future.
The Chief Information Commissioner of India stated that RTI applications are usually disposed within the stipulated time.
