Covid vaccination for 15-18 years launched at Namchi district hospital

GANGTOK,: Namchi Municipal Council chairperson Ganesh Rai on Monday inaugurated the Covid-19 vaccination camp for beneficiaries aged between 15 and 18 years, at Namchi district hospital. Present on the occasion were Education joint director G.P. Sharma, Namchi CDPO Laxman Tamang, DMS (S) Dr. S.N. Adhikari, DRCHO (S) Junita Yonzon, DPHNOs, DNS, IEC personnel, healthcare workers from sub-centres, ASHAs and parents of the beneficiaries, informs a press release.
At the outset, DRCHO (S) gave an overview of COVID-19 vaccination for children aged 15-18 years. She highlighted the importance of Covaxin vaccine for the children between 15 to 18 years. The children aged 15 years or more will be able to register and book the slot on cowin.gov.in and receive their vaccine at Namchi district hospital and all PHCs in the district, the DRCHO informed.
The interval between two doses is 28 days.
The beneficiaries need to submit Aadhar card or ration card or school identity card at the time of registration.  
The DRCHO informed that from January 10 onwards, precautionary dose will be given to healthcare workers, frontline workers and those above 60 years of age having comorbidity. The precautionary dose should be taken nine months from the administration of second dose, she added.  
The venue for the precautionary dose is Bhaichung Stadium, Namchi.
Chief guest Ganesh Rai assured to provide support in every possible way for smooth COVID-19 vaccination, the release mentions.
