Darjeeling MP reaches out to BSF personnel at Indo-Bangladesh border

GANGTOK,: Darjeeling MP Raju Bista on Friday visited the Indo-Bangladesh Border Outpost 132BN, BOP Karzigacch situated in Chopra, Block of North Dinajpur District under Darjeeling Parliamentary Constituency to show his solidarity and support with the valiant Border Security Force (BSF) jawans.

Following the political disturbances in Bangladesh, and the continued skirmishes along the border, the BSF jawans have been working tirelessly in most difficult and demanding circumstances, geographical and weather conditions to keep the borders and country safe.

“It is to the credit of our BSF officers and jawans, that despite massive political disturbances in Bangladesh, the Indian citizens feel safe and protected. These brave men and women, who are stationed at the frontlines of our borders, are our first line of defence, and I applaud their selflessness, courage and dedication towards serving the interests of our nation. They have set a new benchmark for professionalism in dealing with the border issues,” said the Darjeeling MP in a media statement.

“Despite their hard work, I am sorry to note that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and other TMC leaders have continued to attack and vilify the Border Security Forces. On one hand, some individuals in her administration have been actively providing tactical support to the illegal infiltrators and assisting them with acquiring Indian documents like Aadhar, Ration Card, Voters ID and Passport. On the other she continues to blame BSF, with an intention of lowering their morale,” said Bista.

Bista questioned the Chief Minister on what action has been taken against her party leaders, police and administrative officers, who have been actively providing support to illegal infiltrators. What action has your government taken to prevent misuse of state machinery that assists and shelters illegal immigrants and Rohingyas?, he questioned the Chief Minister.

“While, TMC and the WB Govt may be against BSF, as it hurts their politics of “imported vote bank,” the people of West Bengal firmly stand behind our jawans, as has been made apparent by the good people of Sukdebpur in Kaliachak 3 Block, Malda recently. Similarly, people from across West Bengal will stand with and support our BSF Jawans and others who are keeping our nation safe. In such challenging times, the strength of our security forces, is keeping our citizens safe. We all owe a great debt of gratitude for their service and sacrifices, and we will continue to support them in every possible way,” said the Darjeeling MP.
