DC Tashi Chophel chairs first coordination meeting of Pakyong administration

PAKYONG, (IPR): Tashi Chophel chaired the first coordination meeting of Pakyong district administration after he assumed charge as district collector last week.
The meeting took place in the conference hall of the office of the ADC (Dev) and had the presence of SP Dr. Siva. P.  Yellasiri, ADC (Dev), ADC (Land Revenue), chief education officer, Pakyong, Rangpo and Rongli SDMs, BDOs from all five blocks in the district, Pakyong ASP and representatives and officials from all departments.
District collector Tashi Chophel congratulated everyone for attaining the district status and stated that the meeting was held to understand the activities as well as the responsibilities of the district administration. He said that the creation of the district means that the hopes, aspirations and expectations of the people will increase and he asked the officers and staff to place ‘service delivery’ as priority in catering to their needs.
He stressed on the significance of punctuality in order to move forward as a successful district. He asked the district heads to submit a district plan of their respective departments within two months. He thanked everyone for attending the meeting and suggested that the mind-set of all the concerned people should change from sub-division to district regarding responsibilities and seriousness towards work.
SP Dr. Yellasari said the government’s decision to turn Pakyong into a district is sacrosanct and therefore people should develop a sense of seriousness to get the system running. He admitted that the new changes can be challenging and urged everyone to work in tandem.
In order to make commuting easy for those ferrying from Gangtok to Pakyong, he said that he would look into providing a bus either from Gangtok or from Pakyong for the convenience of the staff. He also assured to handle core traffic issues within Pakyong and the surrounding areas, mainly the road between Rorathang and Rangpo and Ranipool-Pakyong road. He said that the changes will definitely not be instant but with time and proper coordination and cooperation from all, it will be definite. He thanked everyone and promised to examine all issues and to provide solutions.
All the departments made presentation at the meeting wherein the department representatives spoke about their schemes, services, status and their respective functions. They also placed forth their suggestions regarding immediate needs and requirements in order to function as a district.  
The Health department also provided the data and numbers of those vaccinated against Covid-19 in the district.
ADV (Dev) Tenzing Denzongpa highlighted various schemes and projects, mainly SGAY, PMAY and MGNREGA. He also provided a brief report on the efforts of everyone involved in the creation of the district and thanked the officials while congratulating the people of Pakyong.
