Jorethang edition of Sikkim Book Fair draws around 1500 visitors

GANGTOK, : The Jorethang edition of NBT Sikkim Book Fair 2024 organized by 24hours Inspired in collaboration with Prashanti Vidhyagiri School, Jorethang at Jorethang concluded on Teuday. The book fair had participation of around 1,500 visitors including students and guardians from Jorethang and surrounding areas, informs a press release.

Speaking about the Sikkim Book Fair, Dewaker Basnet, chief learning officer at 24Hours Inspired, stated, “Our prime objective is to encourage young minds to read more books and to create an ecosystem of reading and learning around Sikkim. We are glad that in the last three months we have been able to organize book fairs in Gangtok, Pakyong, Mangan and Singtam. This is the fifth edition of the Sikkim Book Fair and we are glad that students, teachers, parents and guardians have been very encouraging of the book fair. We look forward to conducting more book fairs in other parts of Sikkim in the times to come. We are also glad that for the Jorethang edition of the Book Fair we had a wonderful partner in Prashanti Vidhyagiri School.”

One of the visiting students commented, “We had a good time at the book fair and enjoyed the Scrabble game and the story writing competition. I also brought a few books which I shall read at home.”

The day long book fair concluded with students and teachers leveraging the opportunity of good books at affordable rates, the release adds.
