Minister-chaired coordination meeting reviews road connectivity in Mangan

GANGTOK,  (IPR):A coordination meeting was held at Mangan today to discuss issues concerning road connectivity in Mangan district.

The objective of the meeting was to review road connectivity, assessment of permanent and temporary bridges and preparedness for the upcoming monsoon season.

The meeting was chaired by Lachen-Mangan MLA and minister Samdup Lepcha, who urged officials from Border Roads Organisation (BRO) and the Army to work in close coordination with the district administration and local stakeholders to ensure timely completion of construction and restoration works along various stretches in the district. He also directed the Roads & Bridges department and PMGSY officials to complete all pending and ongoing works, especially in vulnerable areas.

Additionally, the minister urged the BRO and State government departments to clear roadside debris and implement preventive measures such as plantation and installing relevant signages and hoardings.

District collector Anant Jain reiterated the need for coordination among all the agencies working to restore connectivity in various parts of the district. He also urged all the departments and agencies to brace for the upcoming monsoon season.
