NAAC awards B++ grade to Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College

GANGTOK,: The State-run Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College (NBBGC) at Tadong here has been awarded ‘B++’ grade with a total CGPA of 2.92 in the NAAC assessment released on April 11.
A press release informs that the NBBGC had undergone the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) accreditation for the second cycle on March 28 and 29.
The institution has been awarded ‘B++’ grade with a total CGPA of 2.92 released on Tuesday which is two grades higher than the grade received in the first cycle which was ‘B’ with a CGPA of 2.70 in 2016, said NBBGC principal Dr. D. Purohit.
The NAAC Peer Team which visited the institution for physical inspection comprised of Dr. Manoj Dhar, former Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu, director of Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (Acsir), Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Biswambhara Mishra, Professor & Head, Dept. of Economics, North Eastern Hill University, Shillong abd Dr. George Padikara, principal, Monfort College, Bangalore.
“The B++ grade has made Nar Bahadur Bhandari Government College the highest NAAC accredited government college in the State and further added to the prestige of the institution,” said Dr. Purohit.
The college Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) responsible for the accreditation was headed by Dr. Purohit, Dr. Jiban Upadhyaya (coordinator) along with the members Dr. Namrata Tamang, Dr. Harajit Goswami, Dr. Rajen Upadhyay, Dr. Saurav Kafley, Rup Singh Pradhan, Dr. Reep Pandi Lepcha, Dr. Sita Lama, Karma Loday Tamang and Viveka Gurung. The other stakeholders included the officials of Education department, Government of Sikkim, teaching & non-teaching faculty, students, alumni, parents and local community members.
The third cycle is scheduled to be held in the year 2028, where the institution aspires to further improve its grade by working in regards to the feedback provided by the NAAC Peer Team in their report. The NBBGC fraternity expresses sincere gratitude to all the stakeholders for their support and solicits similar cooperation in the future, the release mentions.
