Namchi Police participates in Fit India Cycling Sundays

NAMCHI, : Police personnel from Namchi Police Station participated in Fit India Cycling Sundays/Fight Obesity here today. The event started from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) premises enroute to the Namchi helipad in Assangthang and back.

Six police personnel, 20 athletes, and five staff, along with four cyclists/athletes from Namchi, participated in the cycling event under Fit India Cycling Sundays.

Sports and Youth Affairs deputy director Basant Pradhan who was present as the chief guest flagged off the event. He was accompanied by football icons of Sikkim, viz. Sanju Pradhan and Nim Tshering Lepcha, as special guests.

The series of cycling events on Sundays is an initiative of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India.

Fit India Cycling Sundays has been regularly conducted in Namchi district, said Rupen Pradhan, in charge of the Sports Authority of India, Namchi district.
