GANGTOK,: Recovering Users Network (RUN), in partnership with the Sikkim State AIDS Control Society (SSACS), announced the launch of Red Fest season 8.
Addressing a press conference here today, RUN president Hissay Bhutia, explained that the competition aims to guide young people on the right path and provide them with opportunities.
The Red Fest will feature Hindi, English, and Nepali bands competing in a rock-themed competition at Dawnhill.
The winner of the Red Fest receives a cash prize of Rs. 1 lakh and Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 30,000 for the first and second runners-up, along with the certificates. The top three winners will also get an opportunity to perform in national concerts, Bhutia informed.
The RUN president also highlighted the current state of HIV/AIDS in Sikkim.
The event supported by SSACS will feature HIV/AIDS awareness initiatives, he added.
The registration for the competition is open both online and offline, and the registration form is available at various locations around Gangtok, including Dragon Wok, Chopsticks, Momo King, and Bakers Café.
The event is not limited to solo performers; it will also feature battles between bands. The Red Fest will also have other activities, viz., walk-and Talk and public awareness sessions, during the finals.
The event is being promoted in schools and colleges around Sikkim. The registration process has already begun, and interested participants can register online or offline.
