‘Shape of Momo’ bags ‘Best Fiction Film’ prize at PK Rosy Film Festival

GANGTOK, : ‘Shape of Momo’, the debut feature film by Sikkimese filmmaker TribenyRai, has been awarded the Best Fiction Film prize at the 5th edition of the PK Rosy Film Festival, held in Chennai. The award was announced on April 12 at the festival's closing ceremony.

The PK Rosy Film Festival is founded and organised by filmmaker Pa Ranjith through his Neelam Cultural Centre in Chennai. It is named after PK Rosy, a Dalit actress who was the first woman to act in a Malayalam film.

The festival is held every April as part of Vaanam, a month-long celebration of Dalit culture and history coinciding with Dalit History Month.

Now in its fifth edition, it has established itself as one of the most significant independent film platforms in India for cinema that speaks from and for underrepresented communities.

“Our team is very happy and honoured to have received this award, especially because of everything this film festival represents. The PK Rosy Film Festival is an important platform that amplifies Dalit and marginalised voices and to be recognised here means a great deal to us,” said director TribenyRai.
