Sikkim Supreme ties up with Reliance, products to be available across India

GANGTOK,: Sikkim Supreme has tied up with Reliance, and the products will now be available in Reliance stores across India. The first consignment of the products for the Siliguri zone was flagged off by Commerce & Industries secretary Karma R. Bonpo in the presence of MSME director Ravi Kumar, Sikkim Supreme managing director Chanda Rani Rai, Government Fruit Preservation Factory (GFPF) officials, and Commerce & Industries department officials and staff.

Speaking with SIKKIM EXPRESS, Karma R. Bonpo said, “Sikkim Supreme is a government-owned food preservation factory, and over the past years, Sikkim Supreme has been working on the quality of its products and making them ready for the national market”.

Today, the tie-up with Reliance is a major achievement because Reliance has stores in India. So, once we get into the channel, we get good marketing, which is good for the branding of our products. This will also pave the way for other entrepreneurs in Sikkim, especially with supermarkets like Reliance, and then you get a readily available market, he added.

The Commerce & Industries secretary said we sent our first consignment to the Siliguri zone today, and in the future, we will be able to send many products from other local brands too.

Sikkim Supreme is for the Sikkimese farmers, and the progress of Sikkim Supreme will be a ready-made market for farmers. The company has worked hard, and with Sikkim Supreme, the name of our State will also flourish, as Sikkim is an organic state, he added.

“The journey was never a 100-metre dash. It was a marathon of perseverance, hard work, and dedication by the entire team, especially the marketing team. It was tough for us to get our products listed under Reliance. I feel happy. It is a new start. When you talk about Reliance, it has the largest store network and a huge commerce platform. We are talking about 18000 stores across India, covering 7000 cities. They have approximately 800 million visitors.

The consignment we sent today opens the gate to a larger audience and market. Reliance works in a zonal manner, and the Siliguri zone includes Sikkim and the neighbouring hills of Darjeeling and Kalimpong too. Next, we will be tapping the Guwahati zone,” said Sikkim Supreme MD.

Sikkim Supreme is now on par with big brands like Hindustan Unilever, ITC, etc. He added that it talks a lot about quality and pricing.

The department is now working on the branding of all the products produced in the state. We are encouraging entrepreneurs to participate in the World Food Festival in Delhi during the first week of November and other such events so that they get exposure. Through the department, we have developed a comprehensive scheme under MSME, where we will be promoting branding and marketing support to entrepreneurs, especially in the food sector. In the near future, we are also planning to have incubation centres in different parts of the state so that entrepreneurs can use common facilities to package their food products. We are also conducting different training programmes for entrepreneurs and focusing on capacity building in different sectors to constantly upgrade their skills in the competitive market,” informed the secretary. He also highlighted the different schemes of the state government.
