Will leave no stone unturned to ensure tribal status to left out communities, says Golay

GANGTOK,: Chief Minister P.S. Golay today said the government will will leave no stone unturned to secure Constitutional recognition of the left out communities of the State as Scheduled Tribes.
Addressing the representatives from 11 left out communities at Samman Bhawan here, the Chief Minister said the inclusion of the left out communities is one of the promises in the manifesto and the government will leave no stone unturned to deliver it.
A CMO statement said that, as per the direction of the Chief Minister, 11 ethnic left out communities were invited to Samman Bhawan today to put forth their thoughts and suggestions on the issue.
During the meeting, the representatives presented their opinions and updated about the work that have been done so far. They also shared their experiences in their struggle on different occasions, towards achieving their prolonged demands.
Golay also informed them about the previous visits to New Delhi, where the delegation had met a number of Union ministers and prominent personalities including the Prime Minister, Home minister, Tribal Affairs minister and other Central leaders. He also reiterated that lone Lok Sabha MP from Sikkim, Indra Hang Subba, has also been dedicatedly working towards this cause.
The Chief Minister assured all that the State government will work in a transparent manner and won’t make empty promises.
It was the first time that all the the representatives had gathered under one roof, and the Chief Minister encouraged all to work collectively for their common goal, the CMO said.
Golay also urged the left out communities to form a committee to further strengthen the cause.
Meanwhile, as per the CMO statement, there has been an addition of Majhi community to the 11 left out communities, making it 12.    
During the meeting, Golay also informed them about visiting New Delhi with a delegation comprising ministers, MLAs, Lok Sabha MP and the representatives of the 12 communities.
“The government will actively strive to fulfil the aspirations of the people, while unity and mutual cooperation is very significant to achieve the goal,” added Golay.
The coordination meeting also had the presence of Cabinet ministers Arun Upreti, Sanjeet Kharel, L.N. Sharma and B.S. Panth, Rhenock MLA Bisnu Kumar Khatiwara, Lok Sabha MP Indra Hang Subba, Chief Minister’s political advisor T. N. Dhakal and press advisor C. P. Sharma, and Sikkim Commission for Backward Classes chairperson Pabitra Bhandari.
