Blood heroes felicitated on World Blood Donor Day

RANGPO: Voluntary Blood Donors’ Association Sikkim, in collaboration with Sikkim State Blood Transfusion Council and Sikkim State AIDS Control Society, celebrated World Blood Donor Day at KrishiVigyan Kendra, Namthang today.
The programme was attended by additional Health directorDr.BaroonSubbaas the chief guest, zilla and gram panchayats, social workers, RRC nodal officers and VBDAS members from across the State.
On the occasion, nine “blood heroes” were felicitated. They were:  Stephen Subba,SevireneRai, SanjeevBaniya, DeepanRai, NirajGiri, BikramMukhia, SrijanaChettri, Krishna Chettri and ArunaPradhan.
Poem and essay writingcompetitions were also organised among RRC members of Kabreysenior secondary school.
On the occasion, the VBDAS thanked all the generous hearts for their support and contribution. Amidst Covid-19 pandemic and lockdown, the blood banks were running low on blood reserves andVBDAS managed to collect 672 units of blood from 56 mini camps they had organised.
