CAP Sikkim candidate joins SKM, another resigns from party

GANGTOK, : CAP Sikkim functionary Pujan Chhetri Kharga from Gyalshing has formally joined the ruling SKM. He was the CAP Sikkim candidate from Gyalshing-Bermiok constituency in the 2024 Assembly elections.

Kharga was warmly welcomed into the SKM by Chief Minister PS Golay on Tuesday morning.

“I extend my heartiest welcome to Pujan Chhetri Kharga, son of L.B. Kharga, a resident of Gyalshing, a distinguished senior advocate and the former candidate of the Citizen Action Party (CAP) from the Gyalsing-Bermiok constituency in the 2024 General Elections, on officially joining our SKM family,” shared the Chief Minister on social media.

“His decision to align with our party is a reflection of our shared commitment to progressive, inclusive, and people-centric governance. With his legal experiences and a deep-rooted understanding of grassroots realities, his presence will undoubtedly strengthen our collective vision and add valuable momentum to our ongoing movement,” said the Chief Minister.

“We look forward to work together in close coordination, inspired by the ideals of unity, integrity, and dedicated public service. Through our collective efforts, we shall continue to strive for the greater welfare of the people and the comprehensive development of our beloved state, Sikkim,” added the Chief Minister.

Similarly, CAP Sikkim functionary Hari Chandra Chettri has resigned from the party. He had contested as a CAP Sikkim candidate from Namthang-Rateypani constituency in 2024 Assembly elections, and was serving as the party’s Namchi district vice president.

In his resignation letter dated July 29, Hari Chettri has stated that he is stepping down from all responsibilities and memberships associated with the CAP Sikkim party.
