GYEZING,: A day after announcing the closure of pubs, discos and bars in the State by 11 pm, Chief Minister P.S. Golay further said that individuals below the age of 21 should not be allowed in such establishments. This decision, the Chief Minister said, aims to ensure both safety and the preservation of Sikkimese morality and decency.

The Chief Minister also appealed the bar and restaurant owners to refrain from serving alcohol to students, warning that failure to comply with these regulations could result in the cancellation of their trade licenses without any possibility of renewal.  “Any trade stakeholders may face legal consequences, cancellation of trade licence if found flouting the norms,” he said.

Additionally, the Chief Minister highlighted the necessity of mandatory identification procedures to ensure only legal-aged individuals are allowed entry into pubs, discos and bars. “We urge hotel and bar owners to compulsorily check the identity of individuals in any form before granting them access,” he stated.
