CM attends platinum jubilee of Sribadam’s KB Limboo senior secondary school

SORENG,: The platinum jubilee celebration of K.B Limboo government senior secondary school, Sribadam concluded on Wednesday. Chief Minister P.S Golay attended the concluding day of the eight-day event as the chief guest.

The Chief Minister, in his address, congratulated the school on completion of 75 years of journey and for fulfilling the local educational aspirations and need. He termed education as a backbone of human race and expressed that lack of educational facilities cripple the developmental aspirations of a society.

Golay maintained that after formation of SKM government, highest priority has been given to the education sector and a committed approach was made to sort out numerous problems the education sector was engulfed in. He said the SKM government has formulated better educational policies which endorsed transparency, efficiency and holistic development of education sector. He also underlined appointments and regularization of probationary teachers in large numbers by the State government and formulation of teachers’ recruitment policy on merit basis.

Golay reiterated that as part of an initiative to foster education sector in the State, construction of Sikkim Khangchendzonga University is underway at Temi Tarku and National Institute of Technology (NIT) on 100 acres of land at Khamdong. He accused the former SDF government of failing to procure land for NIT and claimed that it was only after the SKM came to power, the process for land procurement was facilitated. The NIT will play an effective role to change educational landscape of Sikkim in near future, he added.

The Chief Minister also highlighted different educational schemes being initiated by State Education department such as Nar Bahadur Bhandari Fellowship Scheme for meritorious students pursuing education abroad, Apatan Fellowship Scheme for PhD students and Chief Minister Educational Assistance Scheme.  He appealed the students to avail maximum benefits from the facilities provided in the education sector.

“Don't give up, study, and don't worry. State government assures all necessary assistance to you,” the Chief Minister appealed the students.

The platinum jubilee celebration concluded amidst scholastic, cultural and sporting events.

Principal Manoj Kumar Tamang presented the report of the school.

Education minister Raju Basnet, and MLAs Erung Tenzing Lepcha, Loknath Sharma and Aditya Golay were also present at the event.
