GANGTOK, (IPR): Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang chaired a meeting to review
preparations for the upcoming Kamsel Ceremony, scheduled to take place from
November 20 to 22 at Tholung Monastery in Dzongu, here at Samman Bhawan on
November 5.
The Kamsel
Ceremony is a culturally significant event, held every three years, with the
last observance occurring in 2021.
During the
meeting, the Chief Minister led an in-depth discussion, emphasizing the need
for proactive efforts from all officials and committee members involved. He
stressed the importance of meticulous planning and collaboration to ensure
smooth logistics, focusing on essential areas such as establishing a reliable
power supply and securing road connectivity for attendees and participants.
“The success of
the Kamsel Ceremony relies on our collective efforts, and I am confident that
with thorough planning and collaboration, we can create a memorable and
seamless experience for the devotees and everyone involved,” the Chief Minister
stated.
Passang Phempu,
secretary of the Ecclesiastical department, presented an overview of the Kamsel
Ceremony, outlining its historical significance and the rich traditions it
embodies within the community.
Also present
were ministers Sonam Lama and Pintso Namgyal Lepcha, Zilla Adakshya Mangan, chief
secretary, additional chief secretary, HODs of the concerned departments, DC
& SP Mangan, and president of Sakyong Pentong GPU.
