Gyalshing Omchung Gram Panchayat wins national award for rural development

Gangtok, (IPR): Bringing national recognition to Sikkim’s grassroots governance framework, Gyalshing Omchung Gram Panchayat under Gyalshing District has been selected as an awardee of the prestigious Deen Dayal Upadhyay Panchayat Satat Vikas Puraskar (DDUPSVP) 2025 under the theme “Poverty-Free & Enhanced Livelihoods Panchayat.”

According to an official communication issued by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India, the Gram Panchayat has secured the 3rd rank at the national level under the said category for the year 2025.

The award is a significant recognition of the Panchayat’s dedicated efforts towards promoting sustainable rural development, strengthening livelihoods, and working towards poverty alleviation through effective grassroots governance.

The achievement reflects the commitment and coordinated efforts of the Panchayat representatives, local stakeholders, and the Rural Management & Development department, Government of Sikkim, in implementing people-centric development initiatives at the village level.
