NYK adventure camp underway at Yuksam

YUKSAM,: Nehru Yuva Kendra (NYK), Geyzing in collaboration with local NGO Sewaro Youth club and Black Yak Expedition, is organizing a seven-day- adventure camp here at Yuksam.

Twenty five participants including seven girls from four districts of Sikkim are participating in this camp which was declared open by NYK State director Sibasis Banarjeee on Monday. The participants went through various activities like rock climbing, river crossing cleanliness activities and special session of educating and motivating the participants about the flagship programmes of the government.

The seven-day camp is being conducted under the aegis of NYK Geyzing district youth coordinator Dev Nepal.

The aim of the camp is to encourage the spirit of adventure and risk taking amongst youth and inculcating spirit of nature appreciation with emphasis on ecology and conservation of natural resources, informed Nepal.

Trekking, rock climbing, river crossing and other activities were undertaken with the professional guidance of mountaineer Puspa Gurung.

The participants of adventure camp will visit and experience trekking trails inside UNESCO heritage site Khangchendzonga National Park.
