Coordination meeting for CM traditional archery gold cup at Karthok

PAKYONG, (IPR):  The first coordination meeting for the upcoming 23rd Chief Minister Gold Cup Traditional Archery Tournament, organised by the Pakyong District Archery Association, was held today at the RDD Community Complex, Rurban Pakyong.

The meeting was chaired by Pamin Lepcha, Advisor, Social Welfare and Women and Child Welfare department cum MLA Gnathang Machong. Also present were Laden Lamu Bhutia, Zilla Adhyaksha and Rohan Agawane, DC Pakyong along with the heads of various departments under Pakyong district and representatives from Karthok Samaj.

The month-long tournament, scheduled to take place at Karthok, Pakyong, is set to commence in February 2024. The primary focus of the meeting was to ensure effective coordination among the district's line departments for the successful organisation of this prestigious event.

During the meeting, various aspects of the event were discussed, including venue management, traditional cultural programmes, seating arrangements, traffic control, sanitation facilities, venue beautification, electricity supply, and the organisation of a traditional fair for the public.

The Gnathang Machong MLA spoke about the significance of hosting a State-level event for the first time in Pakyong, a newly formed district. She called for unity and collaboration among the committee and various departments to ensure the tournament’s grand success. She also underlined the cultural significance of archery as a traditional sport played by all communities in the State. She encouraged the revival of the tradition with utmost respect and seriousness, urging the addition of meaningful elements to enhance the tournament's appeal.

The DC Pakyong directed the concerned departments to fulfil their respective roles and responsibilities in facilitating the tournament’s smooth execution.

The meeting concluded with an open discussion, inviting valuable suggestions to further improve the event.
