Sichey SSS tops the State Level Science Drama 2024

GANGTOK,(IPR): Sikkim's talented students took centre stage at the State-Level Science Drama 2024 organised by the State Council & Education Research Training (SCERT), Education department in collaboration with various government schools, here at SCERT auditorium hall in Burtuk today. The theme for this year's drama was ‘Science and Technology for the Benefit of Mankind’.

Dr Sonam Rinchen Lepcha, joint director Science and Technology department, Madan M Dhakal, Chief Medical Officer Pakyong, and Lakpa Lepcha, programme coordinator of National School of Drama were among the panel of judges for the event.

The programme had the presence of Vasudev Adhikari, joint director SCERT, Dr Shanti Ram Adhikari joint director SCERT, Parijit Sutradas, programme coordinator-cum-assistant professor SCERT, officers from concerned departments, school principals, teachers and students.

Lakpa Lepcha extended his best wishes to the participants and expressed joy at seeing talented Sikkimese students perform on stage. He gave a word of caution to students to inculcate holistic development when participating in events like Science Drama. In his concluding remark, he gave his best wishes to all the participants for their future endeavours.

Parijit Sutradas, in his address, briefed everyone about the history of Science Drama and its objectives. He gave a detailed power point presentation about Sikkim's participation in the previous years.

A total number of six schools representing the six districts participated in the event. They were Melli Aching Secondary School, Dalapchand Secondary School, Lingee Senior Secondary School, Passingdong Secondary School, Sichey Senior Secondary School and Soreng Senior Secondary School.

Winners of the Science Drama 2024:

First Position: Sichey Senior Secondary School

Second Position: Lingee Senior Secondary School

Third Position: Passingdong Secondary School

Special Awards:

Best Actress: Ms Jasper Subba from Soreng Senior Secondary School

Best Actor: Mr Rihang Lepcha from Passingdong Secondary School

Best Scriptwriter: Shruti Dahal from Sichey Senior Secondary School

Best Director: Mr Yuvraj Rai from Lingee Senior Secondary School

A ceremonial distribution of certificates and medals was conducted by the guest judges.

The State Champion of the State-Level Science Drama 2024-Sichey Senior Secondary School will represent the State at North East Zonal Science Drama 2024 on November 14, 2024 at Guwahati Science City (Assam).
