GANGTOK: Dr. L.P. Sharma, a technology scientist from Sikkim, has been invited as a speaker for the Global Summit on Climate Change (GSCC 2020) to be held at London on June 15 and 16.
Dr. Sharma was selected as a speaker for the international summit based on the online availability of his different publications on hazards susceptibility and vulnerability assessment with respect to climate change, a press release informs.
Dr. Sharma hails from Sang Rabdang, South Sikkim and was a State topper in CBSE board exams. He did his B.Tech in electronics and communication engineering from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, Masters in Computer Science from National Institute of Computer Technology, Hyderabad and PhD in Geospatial Technology from Birla Institute of Technology, Meshra, Jharkhand.
Dr. Sharma is presently a scientist-F and senior technical director in National Informatics Centre at Sikkim State Unit, Gangtok. His area of research activities includes Geographical Information System, geo-statistics, e-governance with focus on land governance and landslide and seismic susceptibility assessment and climate change. He has published around two dozens of his research publications in Arabian Journal of Geo-science, Applied Geomatics and Geo-Carto International and other high impact factor International journals. He has participated and presented papers in prestigious United Nation’s Cartographic Conference, Thailand in 2009, Global Geospatial Conference Singapore and Canada in 2010 and 2012, besides many national conferences in India.
