GANGTOK,: Badrinarayan Pradhan Memorial Award, which has established itself as prestigious award in Nepali literature, would be conferred upon Dooars-based senior litterateur Bishnu Sharma Adhikari for this year. The award is conferred annually by Badrinarayan Pradhan Memorial Trust, Bagrakote in Dooars since 2012.
Adhikari was finalised as this year’s recipient during a meeting of the award selection committee on Saturday at Bagrakote, informs a press release.
Adhikari has served Nepali literature for five decades. He will be receiving the award during a function on January 17, 2021 at Bagrakote.
Badrinarayan Pradhan Memorial Award carries a cash prize, shawl and citation.
Adhikari was born on March 3, 1947 at Ashabari tea garden, Dooars.
“We had three main criteria for the award – constituency, quality and those yet to be recognised. Bishnu Kumar Adhikari fits all the norms. His literary work must be recognised and valued,” said award selection committee convener Dr. Mohan P. Dahal.
