CM Gold Cup 2025 to kick-off in Jan

GANGTOK,: The highly anticipated Chief Minister's Gold Cup Tournament 2025 is set to take place at Jorethang playground in Namchi district, coinciding with the festive celebrations of Makar Sankranti.

Sharing this good news for football lovers via social media on Tuesday, Chief Minister PS Golay informed that the tournament would commence in the first week of January 2024. The tournament will now be officially known as ‘The Chief Minister's Open Gold Cup Tournament on the Eve of Makar Sankranti’, he said.

“This strategic renaming not only heralds a fresh identity for the event but also underscores a profound commitment to fostering the growth of football while celebrating the vibrant unity of sports and tradition. By intertwining the tournament with the cultural essence of Makar Sankranti, this initiative aims to amplify its significance, transforming it into a grand celebration that resonates with both sportsmanship and cultural pride,” said the Chief Minister.
