‘Entirely False’: Finance Dept on budget constraint allegations

GANGTOK,: The Finance Department has refuted allegations of delayed salaries and budget constraints that are currently being circulated on social media.

Screenshots of certain purported statements have been circulating on social media alleging that medical reimbursement has been restricted only to cancer and dialysis patients by the State government.

It was also alleged that the Finance Department has stopped leave encashment and that the government has no budget provision under any head.

These statements are entirely false, misleading and factually incorrect, the Finance Department said in a media statement issued on Saturday.

The Finance Department has not issued any order, directive or instruction imposing any such restrictions, the statement said.

“The Finance Department further clarifies that salaries, wages, and pensions are being released and disbursed regularly and on time. No cases of pending salary bills of any Department have been reported to the Finance Department. The public is advised not to rely on or circulate unverified information,” said the department.
