Former SDF leader Dawcho Lepcha appointed as CAP Sikkim’s senior working president

GEYZING,: Former SDF minister Dawcho Lepcha was unveiled as the senior working president of Citizen Action Party (CAP) Sikkim during the party’s district-level coordination meeting held on Monday at Geyzing town community hall here.

In his brief address, Lepcha expressed that CAP Sikkim is scaling the new heights of popularity as the party has a reformist approach with Sikkim-centric vision and agendas.

Addressing the gathering, CAP Sikkim chief coordinator Ganesh Rai maintained that the SKM is trying to lure away the CAP Sikkim supporters with lucrative offers and also conspiring to create rift among the party workers to break the party.

“Our party members are being offered cash, vehicles and contract works. Some party members have been threatened to be slapped with Vigilance cases because they fear that CAP is going to form the government. However our members are with us as they are well connected with the party’s vision and its reformist call for a better Sikkim. CAP’s vision and agendas are different from both SKM and SDF, and our party has been able to garner people’s support. We will not sit idle till we form the government,” Rai said.

CAP has many of its members in both the SKM and SDF, and we are aware of all the internal affairs, feuds and agendas against our party, said the chief coordinator.

Rai reiterated that the SDF is an “out-dated party and disowned by the people” and will not return to power again. He asserted that the SKM government is “nervous, insecure and fearful” of losing the public support since the party has utterly failed to deliver its promises to the people.

CAP Sikkim president LP Kafley, in his speech, said the party is committed to end the political culture of hero worshiping a particular political leader as the sole leader of the party, as it is happening in Sikkim. Our party is driven by ideologies and agendas that are supported by every party member, he said.

Earlier in the morning, the CAP Sikkim opened its new party office at 8th mile, Geyzing which was inaugurated by Dawcho Lepcha in presence of the party president, chief coordinator and other functionaries.
