Rhenock Educational Society celebrates 36th foundation day

GANGTOK,: Rhenock Educational Society, one of Sikkim’s pioneering educational initiatives, celebrated its 36th foundation day at Harkamaya College of Education and Damber Singh College at 6th Mile, Tadong, here on Tuesday.

The two institutions are run by the Rhenock Educational Society, which also operates the Himalayan Institute of Pharmacy (HPI) at Majhitar near Rangpo.

Sikkim University Registrar Pratap Keshari Dash was the chief guest at the foundation day function, while former bureaucrat CP Dewan was the guest of honour. The event was also attended by Dr HP Chhetri, founder director of all three institutions under the Rhenock Educational Society, along with Harkamaya College of Education principal Prof Rajesh Singh, Himalayan Institute of Pharmacy principal Dr NR Bhuyan, and Damber Singh College principal Dr Arati Chettri. Faculty members, students and invited guests were also present.

Addressing the gathering, the chief guest spoke about the important role of educational institutions in developing model citizens who will lead the nation in the future. He congratulated the Rhenock Educational Society on completing 36 years of service to the education sector in Sikkim and encouraged students to make continuous efforts to pursue their dreams.

On the occasion, the Rhenock Educational Society expressed its heartfelt gratitude to its faculty members, present and former students, and all those who have contributed to its journey over the past 36 years.

The society reiterated its commitment to providing quality education while keeping pace with new innovations and technology in the global education ecosystem.

To mark the milestone, the chief guest, guest of honour and founder director planted saplings on the college campus.

Rhenock Educational Society was established in 1990 with a founding aim to spread education among the masses of Sikkim.

In the same year, Himalayan Pharmacy Institute was established.

Damber Singh College was established in 1994, followed by Harkamaya College of Education in 2003. The two institutions are named after the late father and late mother respectively of the founder-director Dr HP Chhetri.
