GANGTOK,: Sikkim Amateur Taekwondo Association (SATA) is all set to represent
Sikkim at the 5th India Taekwondo Kyorugi National Championship 2026-27,
scheduled to be held from August 16 to 21, at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports
Complex, Mahalunge in Pune.
The
Sikkim contingent comprising 30 athletes departed from Gangtok on Wednesday for
Pune to participate in the national-level championship.
The
team includes athletes from cadet, junior and senior categories, with both boys
and girls taking part.
The
contingent consists of 11 cadet athletes, 11 junior athletes and 8 senior
athletes, making a total of 30 participants from the state.
The
team will be led by coaches Phurba Sherpa, Pempa Dolma Tamang and Abhinav Rai,
while Deepa Sharma and Aron Chettri will serve as team managers.
The
participation of the Sikkim team at the national championship is expected to
provide the young athletes with an important platform to compete against some
of the best Taekwondo practitioners from across the India.
The
team is carrying the hopes of Sikkim as it heads to Pune with the aim of
putting up a strong performance at the national level.
Sikkim
Amateur Taekwondo Association has extended its best wishes to all the athletes,
coaches and officials for a successful championship.
