GANGTOK,: A delegation from the Sikkim government participated in the curtain-raiser event of the North East Global Investors Summit (NE-GIS) organised by the Ministry of Development of the North Eastern Region (MoDONER) at Hyderabad on Monday.
The Sikkim delegation had Tourism & Civil Aviation additional chief secretary M.L. Srivastava accompanied by secretary Karma Bonpo, director M. Ravikumar, Topden Zangpo, MSME, and Commerce & Industries MD (GFPF) Chanda Rani Rai, informs a press release.
The event was organised as part of the North East Global Investors Summit (NE-GIS), 2023, scheduled to be held in August to promote trade and investment in the North Eastern States. Invest India and FICCI are on board with MoDONER as investment promotion partners for the NE-GIS.
Four curtain raiser events were scheduled in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, and Dhaka as part of the NE-GIS.
The Hyderabad event was chaired by the secretary, North Eastern Council (NEC).
Additional chief secretary M.L. Srivastava made a detailed presentation on investment scope, potential sectors, and investable projects. A documentary video on investment promotion in Sikkim was also screened during the pitching session.
Investment proposals were received in sectors like hydropower, industrial parks, AVGC-XR, food processing, marketing of organic food products, hazardous waste management, and meat processing. More than 30 investors attended the G2B meetings of Sikkim.
Investment proposals worth Rs. 500 crore were received, and the proposals will be pursued by the Commerce & Industries department to facilitate the investors to invest and commence their projects.
More such investment proposals are expected from other curtain raiser events scheduled in Kolkata and Dhaka, Bangladesh.
The Sikkim delegation also visited T-Hub and T-Works, established by the Telangana State government at Hyderabad to incubate the start-ups, which are playing a major role in ideation, product development, and further handholding.
The Commerce & Industries department will be taking initiatives to develop such incubation facilities for local entrepreneurs in Sikkim with the technical support of T-HUB, Hyderabad, the release mentions.
