Swiss Ambassador arrives in Sikkim for official visit

PAKYONG, (IPR): Maya Tissafi, Ambassador of Switzerland to India, arrived in Sikkim today on an official visit, accompanied by Simon SevanSchäfer, First Secretary, and Pierre-Yves Pitteloud, Senior Regional Advisor on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Change Adaptation (CCA), and Rapid Response (RR). She is also accompanied by her spouse, JürgPetermann.

On her arrival at the Rangpo Tourist Facilitation Centre, the Ambassador was received by director SSDMA, LR&DMD, Rajiv Roka; Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rangpo, SujataSubba; SDPO Rangpo, Sameer Pradhan; along with officials from the SSDMA, LR&DMD, Gangtok and Tourism department.

The delegation will be in the State from 7th to 11th April 2026. During the visit, the Ambassador and her team will undertake field visits to various sites affected by Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOF) across the region.

The delegation is also scheduled to hold meetings with senior officials of the State government and engage with local stakeholders during their stay.
