CM meets newly appointed faculty of Helen Lepcha Sikkim Government Medical College

GANGTOK,: Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay today met with the newly appointed faculty members of the Helen Lepcha Sikkim Government Medical College and held discussions on the institution’s development, academic priorities and the concerns of the faculty.

During the interaction, the Chief Minister heard their valuable suggestions and took note of their views and concerns, emphasising the importance of collective efforts in establishing the medical college as a strong centre of learning and excellence, a CMO press release informs.

Describing the establishment of the institution as a historic beginning for Sikkim, the Chief Minister said that, for the first time, students from the State would have the opportunity to pursue medical education in their own homeland, supported by dedicated faculty and the Government, society and local community.

He stressed that the medical college would be particularly significant for students from underprivileged backgrounds, providing them not only access to quality medical education but also a pathway to realise their aspirations with dignity and greater opportunities.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that with the dedication of the faculty, students and all stakeholders, the institution would steadily grow into a centre of excellence and contribute towards establishing Sikkim as a leading educational hub.

He extended his best wishes to the institution, its faculty members and students for success in the years ahead, and called for continued dedication and collective l building a strong foundation for medical education in the State, the CMO release mentions.
