Col CK Nayudu Trophy: Sikkim beat Manipur by 6 wickets for season’s first win

GANGTOK, : Sikkim registered their first win of the 2023-24 season of the Col CK Nayudu Trophy after defeating Manipur by six wickets in a Plate Group contest at the Sikkim Cricket Ground, at Mining today.

Chasing 57 runs for the win, Sikkim under-23 men’s team faced some early hiccups but managed to reach the target.

With Sikkim controlling the game from day one, it was only a matter of time before the hosts scored an outright win, fetching six points.

Manipur, who resumed their second innings on Day 3 at overnight score of 70-4, ended up with 158. Captain Robin Limboo claimed five wickets for 37 as Sikkim bowled out Manipur in the second session of the day before Roshan Kumar and Tarun Sharma took Sikkim past the finish line after a top-order wobble.

With the win, Sikkim has revived their campaign in the tournament after having lost both the previous two games.

Sikkim had taken the first innings lead by making 253 in response to Manipur’s 151 on the opening day.
