GANGTOK,: Major Bikash Rai, a serving officer of the Assam Rifles from Yangang, Sikkim, currently posted in Arunachal Pradesh, has been awarded the Sena Medal (Gallantry) on Independence Day 2026 in recognition of his courage and exemplary leadership during a counter-terrorist operation.
Acting on credible intelligence regarding the movement of terrorists, he promptly led a small team to intercept the group. Demonstrating exceptional bravery and tactical acumen, he successfully neutralised one terrorist and subsequently apprehended another along with arms and ammunition.
In recognition of his gallant action and unwavering devotion to duty, Maj Bikash Rai has been conferred the Sena Medal (Gallantry), a press release informs.
The officer is also awarded with Chief of Army Staff Commendation Card on the occasion of Republic Day 2026.
