GANGTOK,: The Badminton Association of Sikkim (BAS) has announced that a team of five talented young players (boys and girls) will represent Sikkim in the upcoming Sub Junior Nationals, organized by the Badminton Association of India (BAI). The prestigious tournament will be held in Jammu from November 27 to November 30, a press release informs.
The Sikkim team comprises promising players who have showcased exceptional skill and dedication in their age category. The group is accompanied by two officials and will be led by chief coach Sameer Gurung, whose experience and guidance will undoubtedly inspire the team to perform at their best on the national stage, said the BAS.
The team members are Sandeepan Shilal, Poorvansh Prashad, Alwin Rai, Suravi Gurung, and Aakriti Adhikari.
“This marks an exciting opportunity for the young athletes to compete against the best talents from across the country. It is also a moment of pride for Sikkim to have its budding badminton players represent the State at a national level. The BAS extends its best wishes to the team and urges all sports enthusiasts from Sikkim to support and encourage these young stars as they aim to bring glory to the State,” said the BAS.
Today, in preparation for the tournament, the BAS distributed the official team kits to the players.
BAS selection committee chairman Diwakar Rai, and executive members of BAS and Badminton Association on Namchi were present, the release mentions.
